ELEMENT 05 OF 08

Glucomannan

A soluble fiber from konjac root that swells to many times its weight in water.

Typical research dose

2 to 4g daily, split into roughly 1g doses taken 30 to 60 minutes before meals with at least a full glass of water.

I

THE SUBSTANCE

WHAT IT IS

Glucomannan is a soluble dietary fiber extracted from the root of the konjac plant. In water it forms a viscous gel, absorbing up to 50 times its own weight. That physical property, not any drug-like action, is why it shows up in appetite-focused formulas.

II

THE EVIDENCE

WHAT THE RESEARCH focuses on.

Glucomannan is most studied for satiety and for its role in weight management programs when taken before meals with water. The European Food Safety Authority has reviewed evidence on glucomannan at 3g daily in the context of an energy-restricted diet. The research consistently stresses that timing and water intake decide whether it does anything at all.

STRAIGHT QUESTIONS

Why does water matter so much?

The fiber only works once it swells, and it needs water to do that. Taking konjac fiber capsules without enough liquid is pointless and a documented choking risk, which is why every serving instruction says a full glass minimum.

When should I take BLOCKOUT?

About 30 minutes before your largest or heaviest-carb meal, with plenty of water. The formula is built around meal timing; taking it at random misses the point.
